Saint Giovanni Cloister, in Orvieto downtown, was built in the Middle Ages. Its church was consecrated in 1216 by Pope Innocenzo III. It remained the same until XVth century, when the restoration of the church and of the monastery started. It is an extraordinary example of the late renaissance architecture. The cloister has a square shape with five arcades and a well in the middle. The well was probably designed by Sangallo.
